TANEY COUNTY – According to Western Taney County Fire Protection District, around 6:30 a.m. they were dispatched to a report of a barn on fire near the corner of Highway T and Cedar Park Road.

When crews arrived to the 110 block of Cedar Park, they located a detached garage in the shape of a barn that was involved in fire.

The home stood about 10 feet away and was being threatened with damage coming from the garage on fire.

Crews went to work quickly on the structure and were able to contain it enough to keep it from spreading to the main home. It took over two hours to put the fire out and the garage is a total loss.

No one was injured or home at the time of the fire.

Neighbors reported hearing loud claps of thunder and seeing lightning in the area of the garage before seeing smoke.

Western Taney County Fire Protection District did a preliminary investigation that revealed no suspicious activity and the fire is believed to be accidental.
