Salman Rushdie called me a 'bad investment' when I refused sex: Padma Lakshmi

Indian American model and former wife of Nobel Laureate Salman Rushdie, Padma Lakshmi in her autobiography revealed that Rushdie had to be consoled every year when he did not win the Nobel Prize for literature. 

Lakshmi also accused Rushdie of being cold and heartless during their marriage. She said that Rushdie had once called her a "bad investment" after she refused his sexual advances. 

Padma Lakshmi is soon going to launch her memoir in India called Love, Loss And What We Ate. Lakshmi who also likes cooking and is now a Chef also hosted the popular TV show Top Chef. 

In her book, Lakshmi talks about how she shuttled between Indian and America as a child and how her favourite food remained the simple rice she first ate sitting on the cool floor of her grandmother's kitchen in South India.

According to PTI, Lakshmi's book is 'rich with sensual prose and punctuated with evocative recipes, is alive with the scents, tastes, and textures of a life that  spans  complex geographies both internal and external."

Talking about her former husband, Lakshmi also mentioned how Rushdie required frequent sex and was insensitive to Lakshmi's medical condition which made intercourse painful for her. She also revealed that Rushdie needed constant care and feeding, India Today reported.
