Aziz Ansari’s “Master of None” has been renewed for a second season by Netflix. The show will be back, but not until 2017, according to a tweet sent by Ansari on Thursday.

The series features the former “Parks and Recreation” star as an actor trying to build a career and a life in New York City. Ansari co-created the Universal TV series with Alan Yang.
The 10 episodes of the first season bowed Nov. 6 on Netflix. The renewal was expected, although Ansari told Variety last month that he wanted to take some time between seasons to “refill his head” with good material. The show drew critical praise for its blend of comedy and drama in tackling everything from the immigrant experience to the pitfalls of dating in the digital age.
Ansari’s co-stars in season one were Lena Waithe, H. Jon Benjamin, Eric Wareheim and Noel Wells and Kelvin Yu. The show also featured notable guest appearances from Claire Danes, Noah Emmerich and Colin Salmon, among others.
“Master” is the second Netflix comedy series to come from Universal TV. The studio also produces “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” which grabbed a third-season renewal last month.
