CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Reporting Bugs
  • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
  • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
  • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
  • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Starting from 20160702 nightly build we require MM firmware.
If you're running LP firmware it should fail saying that "asus.verify_trustzone" assert has failed.
In order to update your firmware to MM one you can either flash ASUS MM rom in stock recovery or flash a package that will update your fw which you can download right here

################

Starting with 20160803 nightly we ship partial TFA9887 support for ZE601KL.
All you have to do is flash this to have a working speaker.

Notes:
- flashing this on pre 20160803 nightly builds will cause bootloop.
- you have to flash it every nightly, I don't plan to add OTA survival script.

Thanks to TDAD68 who spent 10 hours with me testing this out lol.

Is it necessary/recommended to do a complete wipe first? Does the installation automatically format the relevant directories? Can this be dirty flashed or does data need to be wiped first?

Thanks in advance!

No, you have to manually wipe your data and internal storage.

Got it. Do I have to put the CM13 and GApps file on a microSD card? Or is there another place I could keep them? Like, what folder can I keep the files in that I don't want erased? My last phone (S3) had a microSD card so I'm not used to not having one. I could probably go find it if it helps though.

You can put it on microsd. You could also try skipping "internal storage" wipe and put it on emulated storage.

I'm getting a lot of "Your Device is not compatible with this version" messages from the play store trying to install basic apps like Tapatalk and twitter. Anyone else run into this? I'm thinking the issue might be the gapps package I picked. I used the ARM64 6.0 Nano package.

Edit - Don't think it's the gapps package, as I just tried a fresh install of the ROM with the "Stock" Gapps package and got the same result.
