AUBURN —

Sometime between Sunday at 5 p.m. and Monday at 9 a.m., a trailer full of catering equipment was stolen from the side lot of Bam Dazy BBQ on Shale Ridge Road in Auburn.

It was a $60,000 loss, according to business co-owner Brendon Sullivan.

“Everything we own catering-wise is in that trailer,” Sullivan said.

The restaurant itself was not impacted, and all events scheduled at the restaurant will go on as planned.

The catering side of the business did have to cancel or postpone some jobs.

They will, however, still be able to honor commitments to cater some big weddings this month and next, thanks to some insurance money and a good neighbor.

“Phil Cattenhorn at Longhorn Meats here in Auburn … called me yesterday on the phone and told me not to worry; go ahead and order whatever I needed to order, and he will take care of it,” explained Sullivan. “Thank you, Phil. I just came from Sundowner Trailers here in Auburn, and our new trailer will be here Friday morning.”

Nevertheless, Sullivan and his wife are hoping their original equipment might be found so they can quickly get back to business as usual.

Anyone who has seen a large white trailer, with the words “Bam Dazy BBQ” on the sides, is urged to call the investigating agency, the Auburn area office of the California Highway Patrol.
