Li Bingbing will star in the superhero movie “Realm” for Chinese producer-distributor Fundamental Films and Stan Lee Global Entertainment.

Plot details are under wraps for “Realm,” which has a script by “Predators” writer Alex Litvak. The story is based on an original idea from Lee, the co-creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor and the X-Men.

Li Bingbing will also produce alongside Gill Champion from Stan Lee Global Entertainment and Gregory Ouanhon of Fundamental, who will oversee production on behalf of their companies. Fundamental’s Gary Glushon will also executive produce.

“What a kick it has been to create our first Chinese female superhero, and an empowering one at that,” said Lee. “It has been such a fun experience bringing to life an international woman character, and the ability to do so has been different from anything we’ve ever done! I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.”

Lee is the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. In 2001, he founded POW! Entertainment, which formed Stan Lee Global Entertainment in 2014 as a joint venture with a Hong Kong-based investor.
