Multiple crashes occurred in Geary County on I-70.

Dust led to a seven-vehicle chain reaction of accidents on Interstate 70 Friday, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

All seven vehicles were westbound on I-70 in Geary County when the first crash occurred about 4:10 p.m.

“Visibility was minimal due to a dust storm,” a KHP trooper wrote in a crash log. “Vehicles 1 and 2 collided, causing a chain reaction.”

Of the eight people in the seven vehicles, two suffered injuries in the ensuing crashes.

A 54-year-old male driver from Hoxie was injured and taken to Geary County Community Hospital. A 28-year-old female driver from Abilene was injured and taken to Abilene Memorial Hospital.

No one was killed in the crashes, according to the KHP.
