A suspect was arrested after he allegedly injured his victim in an Elk Grove bar fight last night. 

According to Elk Grove Police, 24-year old James David Aaron Smith of Wilton was in verbal argument with a 24-year old male at the Wrangler Bar on Grant Line Road. During the altercation, Smith allegedly hit the victim in the face with a closed fist causing the victim to fall to the ground and lost consciousness. Upon exiting the bar, Smith allegedly took a baseball bat to the victims car resulting in a smashed windshield. 

The victim was contacted at an area hospital by police officers and identified Smith as the assailant. Police officer contacted Smith at his Wilton residence, where he was placed under arrest.

Smith is in custody at the county jail and is ineligible for bail. He is scheduled for arraignment on November 5.
