U.S. Speedskating announced Monday that eight-time Olympic medalist Apolo Anton Ohno will be inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame next month at Deer Valley.

"It's an honor to be inducted into the US Speedskating Hall of Fame," Ohno said in a statement. "This incredible sport has taught me so much, and to be associated with a special group of legends like this is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I feel proud, blessed and humbled."

The May 13 ceremony will take place at Deer Valley's Snow Park Lodge, beginning at 7 p.m.

Ohno's eight medals make him the most decorated American in Winter Olympics history.

The three-time Olympian and 12-time U.S. National Champion collected more than 30 medals in short track competitions over the course his speed skating career.

"Apolo is one of the great ambassadors of speed skating in the world today," U.S. Speedkating president Mike Plant said in a statement. "He set the bar on the ice with his eight Olympic Medals but what he has done off the ice for our sport is as equally significant."
