One of my family’s favorite hidden gems is STAR Eco Station in Rocklin. Have you been? STAR Eco Station is an internationally award-winning  non-profit environmental education and exotic wildlife rescue center. They offer fun tours year-round that are interesting for both kids and adults. This Sunday, September 22nd from 11am to 3pm, STAR Eco Station is holding a fabulously unique festival for kids, their 8th annual Creepy Crawly Creature Feature!

This zany entomology expo showcases hundreds of bugs, from terrifying tarantulas to beautiful butterflies! Kids can test their bug bravery with Fear Factor inspired games, fun crafts and yummy food, including incredible edible insects! (Wow!) Join a tour to see all the creepy crawlies and the rest of STAR Eco Station’s rescued exotic wildlife.

Event is FREE with the price of general admission to the STAR Eco Station.

$5.00 for children and seniors and $6.00 for adults.

My love for exploring and creating experiences with my three kids led to the founding of SacramentoSidetracks.com in 2009. I realized that Sacramento has so much to offer and I was excited to share my findings with other parents. Besides simply having fun, these are the other positive side effects of taking my kids on outings that I’ve discovered: we have quality time together away from the distractions at home, we cultivate our curiosity, learn new things, conversations are triggered by what we see and do, we connect and bond as a family, and we create new memories. Ready to get sidetracked, too? Let me be your guide!
