The first project under the exclusive distribution deal is Matador, a scripted thriller from the K/O Paper Products writing/producing team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.
The hourlong drama, set to debut in the summer of 2014, explores the rise of Antonio “Matador” Bravo, a popular soccer star who became a covert operative for the CIA.
EOne will also handle the DVD and electronic distribution rights in North America for El Rey’s supernatural crime saga From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, set to debut on March 11, 2014.
?Launched in December 2013 by Rodriguez and FactoryMade Ventures, El Rey is available to over 40 million subscribers domestically.
The El Rey Network agreement follows eOne unveiling an earlier pact with AMC Networks to exclusively distribute AMC and Sundance Channel’s original scripted series internationally.
