Ben Silverman continues to beef up his TV output.
His studio, Electus, with Whoopi Goldberg and Principato Young, has sold a comedy spec script to ABC entitled Iman & Andy. The half-hour focuses on the romance of two 20-something interracial coworkers who work at a Huffington Post-like online magazine that have been happily dating in secret for months. Their dating bliss is quickly put into a tailspin when their new editor-in-chief arrives on the scene, exposes them as a couple and forces them to team up on a relationship advice vlog, with the whole office and millions of viewers now following their relationship.

The single-camera entry is written by Angela Ruhinda, with Goldberg and Tom Leonardis of Whoop Inc. as well as Electus’ Jimmy Fox, Silverman and Principato Young Entertainment attached as executive producers.
“Iman & Andy is a brilliant spec script with a specific voice and point of view. Whoopi’s involvement has already been profound and we are thrilled to expand our relationship with Principato Young Entertainment and ABC,” said Silverman, with Goldberg adding: “I’m so excited we are doing this together. I think this is going to be fun and interesting television.”
STORY: Is Ben Silverman’s Role at Electus About to Change?
Electus, often billed as a multimedia entertainment studio, has had a robust development season, having sold Speak American to Fox, Jane the Virgin to The CW, Sofia Vergara‘s autobiographical comedy Raising Mom to ABC and inked a three-for-one telenovela deal at Silverman’s former home, NBC. If ordered to series, Iman & Andy would join Electus’ Killer Women on ABC’s schedule.
The View co-host and Whoop Inc.’s Leonardis are no strangers to this process either, having produced several dozen projects over the years, including Lifetime’s Strong Medicine and its upcoming A Day Late and a Dollar Short as well as the HBO doc Whoopi Goldberg Presents Moms Mabley. The duo also executive produced the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, along with Whoopi … The 20th Anniversary, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Sister Act: The Musical.
