Vancouver 24: South Asians push for charges to be pressed against urinator

Komagata Maru monument urinationThe South Asian community in Canada is pushing for charges to be filed against a vandal caught urinating on Komagata Maru Memorial which preaches tolerance, reports Vancouver 24.

Vancouver police say the bar for criminal charges has not been met.

“The bylaw ticket wouldn’t be sufficient to show the South Asian community that this person was remorseful for what he did so we’re looking at going the educational route with this man,” said Sgt. Randy Fincham.

South Asian community leaders in Vancouver hope to meet with Mayor Gregor Robertson Wednesday to discuss their anger.
