Amazon and CBS are sticking with one another. The pair, who have a growing library deal and a successful video-on-demand partnership, have extended their current content licensing agreement.
Per the deal, CBS TV Distribution and Showtime Networks’ current catalog of shows will continue to be available to subscribers of the Amazon Prime service for instant streaming, and more series will be added. Medium, The Tudors, the Star Trek franchise, I Love Lucy, Vegas, Penn & Teller and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior are among the included properties.
“We are very pleased to continue expanding our partnership with Amazon,” said CBS Corp. chief corporate licensing officer Scott Koondel. “CBS content is clearly a great match with Prime Instant Video’s growing user base, including The Good Wife being the service’s No. 1 show this past fourth quarter, as well as strong viewership of Under the Dome over the summer. We look forward to Under the Dome season two this summer, along with Extant, and all that we will continue to do to provide great programming to our mutual customers.”
CBS recently announced that summer series Extant will get the Under the Dome treatment, with Amazon Prime serving as the exclusive subscription streamer and episodes available four days after CBS premieres. No other broadcast network shows currently have such a quick turnaround on subscription series.
The terms of this latest deal were not disclosed.
