1966年、イングランドのブラッドフォード生まれ。オックスフォードのラスキン・スクール・オブ・アートとロンドンのロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートで学ぶ。2012年にゲーツヘッドのバルティック現代美術センターで開催された個展「Here」でターナー賞を受賞。映画や映像、古い記録資料、図面、写真資料、そしてポップ・ミュージックを含む多様な歴史的素材を用いることを特徴とした、観客を包み込むようなビデオ・インスタレーションを制作。作品はときに1年以上の歳月をかけて作られ、さらには以前の作品を定期的に再検討しては、新たにアップデートしたバージョンも作り出す。また大胆な図像を用いた介入によって、スクリーン上で視覚的要素を中断させるのも特徴。

1966年、イングランドのコヴェントリー生まれ。シェフィールド・ポリテクニック、ロンドンのロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートに学ぶ。2001年、自身が生まれ育ったコヴェントリーのタイル・ヒル公営住宅団地を描いた作品のセレクションによる個展「The Sly and Unseen Day」［ずるくて見えない日］によって、ターナー賞にノミネート。彼のペインティングやドローイングには、公営住宅、アパート群、灰色の空の広がりを背景に、バス停、電話ボックス、パブ、グラフィティに飾られた壁などが描かれている。イングランドでこのような眺望は必ずしも美しいものではないが、変わる公営住宅の性質を詳細に探究している。これらの考慮に値しない、無視されたような風景は、強烈な個人の記憶によって、突如として価値を持つようになる。

ジョージ・ショウ 1966年生まれ、イルフラコムを拠点に活動。現在、バルチック現代美術センターで大規模な個展を開催中（5月15日まで）。題材とマチエールの独特な並置が見られる絵画作品と伝統との関係性が評価された。

番組が選んだ、はっとするような映像の紹介。
番組開始から、イギリスの現代美術集団『fa projects』のアーティストであるジョン・ウッド&ポール・ハリソン[8]が過去に発表したパフォーマンスアートの映像が放送されている。基本的には30秒程度の映像が2本セットで放送され（映像1本のみの時もあり、このときはタイトルが「1/2 minute gallery」となる）、各映像の最後は“by John Wood and Paul Harrison”のテロップで締めくくられる[9]。
2011年より、新たにアメリカのキネティック・アート作者であるアーサー・ガンソン（英語版）の作品を放送開始。これに伴い、1 minute galleryのオープニングもジョン・ウッド&ポール・ハリソンかアーサー・ガンソンの作品のどちらが流れるかがスイッチのアニメーションで決定される形式になった。アーサー・ガンソンの作品の映像の最後は“Machines’by Arthur Ganson”のテロップで締めくくられる。
2012年度より、田中功起の作品を放送開始。映像の最後は“by Koki Tanaka”のテロップで締めくくられる。これによりスイッチのアニメーションに田中功起の枠が追加され、同時にゲストアーティストの枠が追加された。ゲストの放送はまだされていない。
1 minute galleryの内容がわかりにくいときは、直後に作品の楽しみ方を解説した「解説 by 2355」が放送される

駅前再開発にいち早く美術が用いられた例。1997年、横浜市港南区の上大岡駅に直結するかたちで、商業施設・文化施設・オフィスなどの複合施設である「ゆめおおおかオフィスタワー」が完成した。横浜市は「新宿アイランド」ビルのパブリック・アート計画（1995）を受け持った実績を持つインディペンデント・キュレーターの南條史生にコンサルティングを委託し、アート・プロジェクトを計画した。南條はこの計画の実施にあたって「日本とアジアの若手作家を中心とする」「作品はすべてコミッションワークとする」「土地の歴史や生活に配慮する」などの条件を設け、その結果、18作家による19カ所の作品が選定・設置された。選出された作家のその後の活躍は著しく、また横浜市もその後トリエンナーレを開催するなどアート活動を広く展開している。この後パブリック・アートの動向は不況により失速したが、全国の町おこしを目的とした国際展は活発な動きを見せている。

　2009年11月15日、水戸芸術館コンサートホールATMで、国際シンポジウム「21世紀にボイスを召還せよ！」が開催された。同館現代美術ギャラリーで1月24日まで催されている「BEUYS IN JAPAN：ボイスがいた8日間」展の関連企画である。6時間を超える長大なシンポジウムは、まずヨーゼフ・ボイスとともに伴走してきたギャラリスト、レネ・ブロックと、ハンブルガー・バーンホフ美術館チーフ・キュレイターのオイゲン・ブルーメによる基調講演ではじまり、その後両名をまじえたパネル・ディスカッションが続いた。そのうち「消費社会とユートピア」をテーマとした前半は、モデレーターとして四方幸子（NTTインターコミュニケーションセンター［ICC］特別学芸員）、パネリストに仲正昌樹（金沢大学教授）、毛利嘉孝（東京藝術大学准教授）、山本和弘（栃木県立美術館シニアキュレイター）が、そして「アクションは生きているか？」と題された後半は、モデレーターに木幡和枝（東京藝術大学教授）、パネリストとして椿昇（現代美術家）、白川昌生（現代美術家）、小田マサノリ／イルコモンズ（民族学者、アクティヴィスト、元・現代美術家）が、それぞれ登壇した。
