GRANITE BAY –

The San Juan Water District, which provides water from Folsom Lake to people in portions Sacramento and Placer Counties, may declare a stage four water emergency in the coming weeks.  That possibility was explained during a meeting with water customers hosted by the district Monday night in Granite Bay.

In a stage four water emergency, customers would be required to cut water use by 40 percent or face fines.

Wednesday night’s meeting was informational only.  The board may vote on mandatory conservation measures in a few weeks if the water storage situation continues to look grim.

Folsom Lake is at about 26 percent of capacity even after the recent rain.
