STOCKTON—

Four people have been arrested after police say they were in a car that was reportedly trying to run over a woman.

The incident happened around 8:21 p.m. Saturday near Sonora Street and Airport Way, according to Stockton Police logs. Officers showed up to the area after they got reports of a small silver car that was reportedly trying to run over someone.

At the scene, the suspect car was identified. Officers tried to pull the car over, but police say the driver wouldn’t yield, leading to a short chase.

During the chase, police say, someone inside the car pointed a handgun through the rear window at the pursuing officers.

The car soon came to a stop, but not before the suspect who pointed the gun at police bolted out of the car and into the front yard of a house. He is said to have thrown the gun away, although police recovered it later.

Three other people inside the car also got out and started yelling at the pursuing officers, police say. The three are said to have continuously disobeyed the officers’ commands.

All four of the suspects, including the person who bolted from the car, were eventually arrested. Maria Herrera, 19, faces traffic charges; Sara Hernandez, 34, faces resisting arrest; Emmanuel Gonzalez, 31, faces weapons and resisting arrest charges; and an unidentified juvenile girl faces resisting arrest charges.
