Community Corner

Veterans' Issues - Discussion and Film Screening

The Veterans Ministry of the Church of the Resurrection invites you to join
us for the next program in our “Second Thursday” series intended to increase community awareness of veterans’ issues. This session deals with one of the most important issues facing our military today, military sexual assault.  Please join us from 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the parish hall behind the Church at 399 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill, CA.

After we view the award-winning documentary, The Invisible War, Kate
Weber – who appears in the film and who was named California woman
veteran leader of the year for 2013 – will lead us in a discussion of these issues and describe the latest developments in the legislative effort to reform how the military handles sexual assault complaints. Starlyn Lara, the manager of programs for women veterans at Swords to Plowshares, will also participate in this discussion.

Veterans, their family and friends, and anyone who cares about veterans’
issues should consider attending. No church affiliation is required to attend.
