The Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans (MPI) – the entertainment industry’s largest benefit plan – has appointed a new CEO, Julia Nicholson. MPI is the organization that serves IATSE members, among others, and provides pension and health benefits to more than 120,000 industry professionals and family members.
“Julia is a seasoned executive in the employee benefits field, with particular expertise in (union benefit) plans,” said MPI board co-chair Michael Rosenfeld. “Julia’s success running multi-billion-dollar pension and health funds make her an ideal executive to lead MPI as we continue to provide benefits to tens of thousands of professionals in the motion picture and television industry.”
Most recently, Nicholson served as Vice President of Operations for UFCW & Employers Trust, an entity based in Walnut Creek, California that administers several large health and welfare plans and pension plans.

“I am honored to join MPI and have the opportunity to work with such an esteemed group of people,” Nicholson said. “The organization is a keystone in the Industry, supporting the financial security and welfare of so many talented and dedicated employees. I look forward to serving all those associated with MPI and continuing its mission of making a significant difference in the lives of its participants.”
