TORONTO – Want to know how Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Grant and Rob Lowe survived a celebrity scandal with their careers intact?
Canadian producer CMJ Concepts is about to tell Reelzchannel viewers after the U.S. cable network picked up its factual series They Got Away With It.
Reelzchannel also picked up Celebrity Estates from the factual arm of Montreal-based CMJ Productions, a series that probes just how rich celebrities were when they died, young or old.

They Got Away With It, comprising 26 one-hour shows, explores how celebrities caught in the cross-hairs of the police and the paparazzi, from Nicole Richie and Martha Stewart to Kobe Bryant and Mel Gibson, managed to survive in Hollywood unscathed.
Kicking off the series is the upheaval following Lil’ Kim’s feud with Foxy Brown and the shootings outside of the Hot 97 radio station.
The first of 26 one-hour episodes of Celebrity Estates investigates Whitney Houston and her estate following her accidental drowning due to heart disease, coupled with cocaine use.

Subsequent episodes spotlight the estates of Anna Nicole Smith, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, James Gandolfini and Heath Ledger, among others.
The Reelzchannel pickups follow ratings success for the cabler with Hollywood Scandals and Final 24.
“CMJ has a proven track record in this genre, and we know they will create fascinating and entertaining programming that our viewers will look forward to every week,” said Steve Cheskin, senior vp of Reelzchannel programming, in a statement on Thursday.
