TORONTO – Chicago Fire’s Brooke Nevin has replaced Stefanie von Pfetten as the lead psychiatrist in the Canadian cop procedural Cracked for ReelzChannel.
Nevin, who jumped on board the second season shoot in Toronto through September, plays a new psychiatrist, Dr. Clara Malone, who tests the bonds in the Psych Crimes and Crisis Unit opposite David Sutcliffe’s veteran police sergeant lead.
Cracked executive producer Peter Raymont of indie producer White Pine Pictures said Neven and new showrunner Bruce Smith have come on board to re-energize a sophomore season for the cop drama that also airs on the CBC and French broadcaster Groupe Canal+.

“I think it’s good to change things up, to bring in fresh faces. Brooke Nevin is talented, very attractive and very smart. She’s a strong character,” he explained.
Raymont, during an earlier CBC cop drama, The Border, replaced Nazneen Contractor with Grace Park in a lead role.
He added the Cracked producers looked at other series like The Listener, Criminal Minds and CSI: Las Vegas that used cast changes for lead female characters to shake up storylines.
Showrunner Smith is also show-running 19-2, the English Canadian adaptation for Bravo of the hit Quebec cop drama of the same name.
Raymont said international distributor Beta Film GmbH is close to a hand-full of additional European sales outside of France, including a German pay TV deal and sales in the works for Italy, Denmark and Latin America.
