AUBURN—

Police in Auburn say they have arrested a suspected shoplifter who made off with some feminine beauty products Saturday afternoon.

According to a media release from the Auburn Police Department, 23-year-old Michael Savala showed up at the Grass Valley Highway Rite Aid around 12:37 p.m. in a Chevy Blazer driven by 32-year-old Christopher Olsen.

Savala is said to entered the store, pocketed some items, got back into the SUV and took off.

Police say Olsen dropped off Savala near Kevin Court and Incline Drive, only to crash his SUV into a fence as he tried to get away.

With the help of a Placer County air unit, Savala and the SUV were spotted and soon arrested.

Savala now faces burglary charges, while Olsen will face a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge. They both are being held at Placer County Jail on $10,000 bail a piece.
