A little less than two weeks after the God of Thunder makes his big screen return in Thor: The Dark World, the plot will be referenced in some form on small screens.
In what could prove to be a welcome bit of synergy, Marvel revealed on Friday that the storyline of the ABC series Agents of SHIELD will intersect with the ending of the Thor sequel on a Nov. 19 episode.
“In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces — one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team,” reads the Marvel description of the episode titled “The Well.”
BOX OFFICE: ‘Thor: The Dark World’ an Early Hit Overseas
The episode will be directed by Jonathan Frakes, a former Star Trek actor and director of NCIS: Los Angeles and Burn Notice episodes.
The latest episode of Agents of SHIELD, “Girl With the Flower Dress,” aired on Oct. 22. Earlier in the month, ABC gave the scripted drama a full-season order.
The Hollywood Reporter’s guest recapper, Jim Steranko, a creator of the Nick Fury character, appraised the show after its fifth episode: “The sometimes-manic, sometimes-plodding quality of the previous eps has settled into a pragmatic, if sometimes predictable, comfort zone.”
