SACRAMENTO –

A “substantial” amount of marijuana was stolen from an ordinary, “family” neighborhood early Wednesday morning in Sacramento, according to Sacramento Police.

The burglary happened on Winnett Way near the Florin Road and Franklin Boulevard intersection around 4 a.m.

No one was in the home during the time of the burglary.

A neighbor alerted police when they heard a van leaving. They came out and also saw the front door of the home open. The neighbor said the people who lived inside the home kept to themselves  and many people come and go from the home. It’s unknown how many people live inside.

An officer told FOX40 there was a letter on the back room door where the marijuana was grown that permitted it to be grown. But what police found was far beyond what residents were allowed to grow.

The officer said they get a lot of calls about marijuana burglaries, but what makes this case unusual is that the home was very clean; usually there are plants and dirt throughout the home.
