The nominees for the 86th Academy Awards were announced on Thursday morning, but some movies and big names, predicted by many to be nominees, were left off the list.
Tom Hanks didn’t receive an Oscar nomination for his work in Captain Phillips or Saving Mr. Banks. Oprah Winfrey was also snubbed in the best supporting actress category for her work in Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
Meanwhile, other highly touted films received few or no nominations, including Inside Llewyn Davis, Saving Mr. Banks, Fruitvale Station, Lee Daniels’ The Butler and the documentary Blackfish.
