TORONTO — Genre distributor Raven Banner Entertainment has snapped up the Canadian rights to Odd Thomas, writer/director Stephen Sommers’ adaptation of the Dean Koontz book that stars Anton Yelchin and Willem Dafoe.
Raven Banner will release the $30 million movie theatrically in early 2014 as part of its Sinister Cinema series with partner Cineplex Entertainment.??

Odd Thomas has been plagued by investor setbacks and lawsuits as Sommers, best known for the hit Mummy movies and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, tried to complete the book-to-screen adaptation outside the studio system.
Odd Thomas tells the story of a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities.
Image Entertainment earlier acquired the U.S. rights to the picture.
The film, which also stars Addison Timlin and Patton Oswalt, was produced by Sommers, John Baldecchi and Howard Kaplan.?? ?
The Canadian distribution deal was negotiated by Raven Banner’s managing partners Michael Paszt and James Fler, and Paul Hudson on behalf of the filmmakers.??
