BriarPatch’s February cooking classes

Give the gift of good food this February to someone you love with a cooking class, and since you’re just as important, make sure to sign up for a class or two yourself.

Learn enticing recipes and discover aphrodisiac super-foods to make this Valentine’s Day special with “Aphrodisiac Foods.” Mielle Rose will teach the class to make: Grilled Lamb with Three-Muses Sauce (pomegranate, fig, and apricot), Truffled Potatoes, Raging Stallion Hot Cacao-Maca Beverage, and Flourless Chocolate Torte with Rose-Scented Cream on Thursday, February 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Let your breakfast get more creative with a trip south of the border on Thursday, February 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The class will prepare Huevos Rancheros with stewed tomatoes simmered with traditional Mexican spices to make the base for the classic dish. Teacher Kim Jones likes to poach the eggs right in the sauce, and the beautiful plate is topped with sliced avocado and fresh farm cheese (queso fresco). Plus, there are Tortilla and Pepper Cheese Bundles, topped with jam and sour cream, and Churros with Chocolate Sauce.

Behzad Henry Moftakhar feels that “Real Men Actually Cook” and wants to make sure that all men know how to cook simple, healthy, gourmet food for themselves and their loved ones.

Dishes in the Thursday, February 20 class from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. include breakfast on-the-go in five minutes with Hearty Power Smoothies, lunch wraps for any dietary needs, including gluten-free, which are ready in less than ten minutes, and a gourmet dinner in less than half an hour of prep with Sesame Turmeric Quinoa Pilaf, Vegetables with or without Meat in a Ginger Citrus and Cilantro Sauce, and Red Lentil Dahl with Coconut Cream.

Behzad says that a spot in this class is the perfect Valentine’s gift for your significant other.

Finish February with a flourish with “Artisanal Pizza.” On Thursday, February 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., David Humphreys will show how to stretch your dough and your imagination as he guides you through a hands-on journey of learning how to make homemade artisan pizza from start to finish.

You will learn how to make a near effortless no-knead dough (the most important part of a good pizza), prepare several different sauces, blend different cheese options, and bake a variety of terrific pizzas using a conventional home oven.
