WOODLAND–

The former executive director of non-profit Fourth and Hope in downtown Woodland has been charged with embezzlement.

The investigation into Leona Jull began in March and a search warrant was served on her Woodland home in June.

The Yolo County non-profit serves as a safety net, providing food, shelter, a rehab clinic and a job training program.

“When I first came to Woodland, I didn’t have anywhere to live. They put me up in an apartment and gave me food and helped me save money to get my own place,” says Fourth and Hope employee and former client Sandra Torres.

Documents filed in Yolo County Superior Court say Jull spent $30,000 of Fourth and Hope’s money on her own comfort – on items like gas, clothing and furniture for her own home.

Jull is due in court on Oct. 3.
