TOKYO – Michael Fasulo will take over as head of Sony Electronics U.S. (SEL) on Jan. 1, replacing Phil Molyneux, while Toshifumi Okuda will become vice president, the company announced Monday.
Fasulo, who has been with Sony since 1984, has a finance background, and Okuda comes from the global marketing division in the home entertainment and sound business group of Sony Japan.

“Mike and Okuda-san’s strong backgrounds in sales and marketing will serve them well as SEL puts renewed focus on customer relations to drive expansion of our business in the United States,” said Sony president and CEO Kaz Hirai in a statement.
Hirai is continuing to work on turning around Sony’s core electronics businesses, which have been struggling in a number of key segments, including television sets and other consumer products.

“I am equally inspired by Hirai-san’s confidence in me, and I am very excited to be leading the folks I’ve worked with at Sony Electronics for many years. I look forward to Okuda-san’s arrival and working as one team to rejuvenate this brand I love,” said Fasulo.
“There is no doubt that the U.S. is one of the most important markets for Sony. I am very much excited to work and align with Mike and all SEL employees to make Sony regain the leadership position in this important market,” said Okuda.
