Forget funny Valentines — this year, IDW Publishing is all about weird Valentines, with the San Diego-based publisher today announcing a new series reprinting some of the most off-kilter 1950s romance comics titled Weird Love.
Edited by comics historian Craig Yoe, the series will feature stories with titles like “I Joined A Teenage Sex Cult,” “I Feel For A Commie” and “There’s No Romance in Rock’n’Roll” — stories that Yoe gleefully describes as “jaw-dropping[ly] sick, perverse, strange, kinky, twisted, and by today’s standards horribly politically incorrect.”

As if that wasn’t enough of a come-on, IDW teases that the first issue of the bi-monthly series will include “a pre-[Comics] Code comics ode to the female derrier.” The mind boggles, but it’s hard to deny that curiosity has been aroused…
Weird Love will be released in comic book stores and digitally this May.
