Friends and relatives of Marvin Paige have organized a Jan. 26 gathering at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood to celebrate the late casting director, who was behind such films as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Take the Money and Run.
Paige died Nov. 12 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from injuries sustained in a car crash a month earlier. He would have turned 87 on Jan. 26.
Paige also was the founder, curator and owner of the Motion Picture & Television Archive, home to a wealth of footage, photos and memorabilia. He also was known for his ability to entice celebrities to get involved with such high-profile events as Oscar parties and the TCM Classic Film Festival.
The Paige gathering, which begins at 2 p.m. is free; organizers ask that you please RSVP here.
Paige was a frequent visitor to the Egyptian, where he indulged his love of cinema. Contributions are being accepted to name a seat for him with a plaque at the historic theater.
Donations can be sent to the American Cinematheque office: “Attn: A Seat for Marvin” at 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028.
