The actor revealed Thursday that upon urging from his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, he recently had a facial mark checked for cancer cells, and was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer.
He appears to have had the mildly malignant tissues removed, and asks his fans to take precautionary measures.
“Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right!” he posted on Instagram along with a photo of his bandaged nose. “I had a basil cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!”
