Cesar Conde, the president of Univision Networks, has resigned to take up a top executive post at NBCUniversal.
Spanish-language media giant Univision Communications announced his departure on Friday.
Minutes later, NBCUniversal announced that Conde would join the company as an executive vp, reporting to CEO Steve Burke.

In the newly created role, Conde will focus on business development, strategic priorities and special business projects across the NBCUniversal portfolio of assets, the firm said.
He also will oversee the international group led by the newly appointed chairman Kevin MacLellan.
Univision said Alberto Ciurana, president of programming and content, Isaac Lee, president of news, and Juan Carlos Rodriguez, president of Univision Deportes, will now be reporting directly to Univision CEO Randy Falco.

“Alberto, Isaac and Juan Carlos are three extraordinarily talented executives with keen insights and deep knowledge of our business, our audiences and what makes our networks so successful,” said Falco. “They are largely responsible for the recent success and tremendous momentum of our network business. This new management structure provides us with an opportunity to be even more nimble going forward.”
He added: “We are appreciative of Cesar’s contributions to Univision over the last decade.”
“Cesar is an impressive business executive with both traditional and emerging media expertise,” said Burke. “His experience leading multiple domestic and international businesses will be instrumental in maximizing all the opportunities to grow our portfolio.”
NBCUniversal owns Univision competitor Telemundo and is the former long-time employer of Falco.
While at Univision, Conde served in various executive capacities since joining the company in 2003. Under his leadership, Univision’s main broadcast network increasingly challenged its English-language rivals with increasing ratings.
Prior to working for Univision, Conde served as White House fellow for then-Secretary of State Colin Powell.
He also worked at StarMedia Network, the first Internet company focused on Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking audiences, and worked in the mergers and acquisitions group of former investment bank Salomon Smith Barney.
