Lifetime‘s Shiri Appleby drama pilot Unreal is adding a Jericho alum to the cast.
Actress Ashley Scott has joined the project from executive producer Marti Noxon, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Unreal, inspired by the award-winning independent short film Sequin Raze, goes behind-the-scenes of a hit competition dating show and follows the experiences of Rachel (Appleby), a young staffer whose sole job is to manipulate her relationships with — and among — the contestants to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage the program’s producers demand.
Scott will play Mary, a 36-year-old single mom with a 4-year-old daughter, who is a type-A financial advisor who has been unlucky in love and a hopeful contestant. Described by the reality show’s executive producer Julia (Megyn Price) as, “Miss Old, Hot and Desperate,” but in reality she is guarded but sweet.
Freddie Stroma, Josh Kelly, Nathalie Kelley and Johanna Braddy also star in the pilot, which counts Bryan Batt as a guest star.
Unreal is written by Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and Noxon, with Shapiro producing and Noxon executive producing. Sally DeSipio and Bill Davenport will also executive produce. Roger Kumble will direct the pilot.
Scott, who was also a regular on the Birds of Prey TV series, is repped by Arch Talent Group and Untitled.
