Following in the footsteps of predecessors Barenaked Ladies and Willie Nelson, Heart has canceled an upcoming performance at SeaWorld Orlando in light of a petition created following the release of documentary film Blackfish.
According to a tweet posted to guitarist Nancy Wilson‘s Twitter account, the show had originally been planned as an Orlando show; had they known it was scheduled at the marine theme park, “we’d have said no then. We said no today.”

The band was pressured by a petition on the website Change.org that directly asked the band to reconsider performing Feb. 9. The petition had gained nearly 2,000 signatures before the band canceled the show.
The announcement follows Willie Nelson‘s confirmation Friday that he had canceled his SeaWorld show due to “scheduling conflicts,” though he later told CNN he felt that “what they do at Sea World is not OK.” Barenaked Ladies also pulled out of a show at the park last month. reportedly after having viewed Blackfish.
Blackfish, released earlier this year, discusses the captivity of killer whale Tilikum and its role in the deaths of three individuals, while decrying SeaWorld’s alleged practices with many of its marine animals held at its parks.
The chain of theme parks has called the film inaccurate.
