HALIFAX – Mette Hoffmann Meyer, head of documentaries and co-productions at Denmark’s DR TV, is to receive the Doc Mogul Award at the upcoming Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.

She also spearheaded and executive produced Why Poverty?, a series of eight films aired last year by 70 broadcasters, reaching more than 500 million people worldwide.
“Her unparalleled support of point-of-view documentaries puts Mette in a class of her own,” said Hot Docs executive director Brett Hendrie in a statement on Wednesday.
Hoffmann Meyer will be presented with the Doc Mogul Award on April 29, during the 2014 edition of Hot Docs in Toronto.
Past winners of the Doc Mogul Award include Participant Media’s Diane Weyermann, HBO’s Sheila Nevins and last year’s winner, Women Make Movie’s Debra Zimmerman.
