CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga women's basketball player Michelle Davis was granted a full release from her letter-of-intent by North Carolina State University where she spent part of one summer as a student-athlete.

Davis, a Cleveland native, spent two weeks with the Wolfpack under late Head Coach Kay Yow who died after a long battle with cancer. N.C. State Athletics Director Lee Fowler granted the release Tuesday and Davis will now have four years of eligibility.

The 6-foot-2 forward was the 2008 Chattanooga Times Free Press All-Area Player of the Year and a two-time Street and Smith All-American Honorable Mention. In her senior year, Davis was a Tennessee Miss Basketball finalist and a McDonald' All-American nominee. She helped lead her team to four straight state tournament appearances including the Elite Eight and two trips to the Final Four.

The Blue Raiders posted an overall record of 118-25 and were four-time sectional champs. Cleveland won the District 5-AAA regular season three times and were three-time District Tournament champs and claimed the Region title four times.

The Lady Mocs will tip off the 2009-10 season with the Blue-Gold exhibition on October 31 at the First Tennessee Pavilion and host Lee University in an exhibition game at the McKenzie Arena on Nov. 5. The regular season will open on the road at former Southern Conference rival East Tennessee State on Nov. 13 in Johnson City, Tenn.
