AUBURN-

A Highway Patrol officer found around 100 pounds of marijuana in an SUV originally pulled over for speeding, the CHP said Thursday.

The officer was assigned to the Auburn area near Dry Creek Road. Investigators say the Jeep Cherokee was moving at around 90 miles per hour, and was pulled over for speeding.

The CHP says the officer could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from the SUV. Inside was around 100 pounds of pot.

Officers arrested the driver, 23-year-old Illinois resident Eduardo Angeles Jr., and booked him into jail for drug charges.
