How is David Letterman countering Jimmy Fallon‘s Tonight Show debut next week? By keeping it in the family.
The cast of CBS’ How I Met Your Mother continues its farewell tour by presenting the Top 10 list on the network’s Late Show on Monday, Feb. 17, the same night Fallon takes his first turn as Tonight Show host over on NBC. The guests slated for the Late Show that evening are Kevin Spacey, Amber Heard and musician Gary Clark Jr., while The Tonight Show has Will Smith and U2.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!, meanwhile, will have Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover models Nina Agdal, Lily Aldridge and Chrissy Teigen, as well as The Lego Movie voice star Will Arnett, open the week for the ABC competitor. (TBS’ Conan will air a repeat episode with James Franco.)
To compare, Jimmy Kimmel — and even Conan O’Brien — actively counterprogrammed against Jay Leno‘s final Tonight Show on Feb. 6 with guests like Matt Damon (who successfully hijacked a star-filled Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January 2013) and the cast of TV’s biggest scripted drama, The Walking Dead, respectively.
The rest of Letterman’s Late Show slate for the week includes the always-outspoken Donald Trump, Pauley Perrette (CBS’ NCIS), Olympic gold medalist Sage Kotsenburg, Oscar nominee Lupita Nyong’o and Keri Russell.
Fallon’s first week, meanwhile, features first lady Michelle Obama, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Jerry Seinfeld, Kristen Wiig, Bradley Cooper, Will Ferrell and Arcade Fire, while Kimmel’s slate includes Bill O’Reilly, Matthew McConaughey, Duck Dynasty castmembers and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.
