SACRAMENTO–

Old Sacramento sells itself as family-oriented with night-time activity.  So, you can imagine the uproar when a 74 year old woman was recently robbed by two men.

“When you come to Old Sacramento we want you to know, we are watching you,” warns the National Historic District Manager Liz Brenner.

Brenner was instrumental in having six camera’s installed to help keep everyone safe.

“You will get caught. You will be cited. You will be on camera, and we’re going to go after you,” said Brenner.

The $55,000 surveillance project got underway back in November.  That was two months before a New Year’s Eve shooting in the National Historic District left two people dead and two more injured.  Unfortunately, the new camera’s didn’t go live until mid-May.

“It helps the merchants. It helps the property owners. It helps the people who feel safe enough to come to Old Sacramento to shop, dine, and play.”
