The presents are open, the feast is over, now the clean-up begins. Several locations are accepting Christmas trees for recycling. Please remove all tinsel, ornaments and lights first; most locations only accept carloads of 5 trees.
SMUD Corporation Yard: 6100 Folsom Boulevard, Jan. 4 only. They will mulch the trees free of charge.
Kiefer Landfill, at 12701 Kiefer Boulevard and Grant Line Road, Sloughhouse, CA 95683. Open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on January 4 and 5.
North Area Recovery Station, at 4450 Roseville Road, North Highlands, CA 95660. Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 4 and 5.
Elder Creek Recovery and Transfer: 8642 Elder Creek Road, starting Jan. 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will also will accept trees from Dec. 26 to Jan. 31 on Saturdays.
Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station: 8491 Fruitridge Road, Jan. 5 from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Will also accept trees from Dec. 26 to Jan. 31, Monday-Saturday.
Dan Russell Rodeo Area: Folsom City Park, on Jan. 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
