GALT-
Police in Galt say a newborn baby is suffering from hypothermia after being left in a flower bed.
The baby’s mother was booked into jail on attempted murder charges.
Police say a neighbor reported a baby crying in the flower bed shortly before 5:30 Tuesday morning. Her mother, according to investigators, was found sitting on the front porch.
The woman, identified as 30-year-old Dwanda Mahoney, is said to have denied being pregnant or giving birth, police say.
Mahoney, a transient from the Galt area, was also taken to the hospital. She was booked into jail Wednesday after she was cleared by doctors.
According to police, doctors say the baby’s condition is improving.
