Following a 19-month hiatus, FX has scheduled the return of Emmy-winning comedy Louie.
The Louis C.K. comedy will return Monday, May 5, at 10 p.m. with back-to-back episodes running every Monday at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. for seven consecutive weeks through June 16, FX announced Thursday.
FX initially ordered 13 episodes for the fourth season, and the prolific comedian, writer, director, editor and star delivered 14.

“Louis said he needed extra time between seasons three and four of his show because — even though Louie was the most critically acclaimed television comedy series in America — he needed to make it even better,” FX CEO John Landgraf said. “Based on the first three episodes we’ve seen, remarkably, he accomplished his goal.”
The multihyphenate told reporters in October that he requested extra time between the third and fourth seasons of the comedy series to prep the return.
“I want season four to go somewhere new … I’m looking back to when I did the first season and the time I took to do the show and decide which directions to go in, and I want that back again,” Louis C.K. told reporters at the time. “I want a little breathing room.”
