NEW DELHI – Leading film services entity Reliance MediaWorks has hired director Vadim Perelman to serve as the company’s creative director.
Perelman is known for his acclaimed 2003 feature debut House of Sand and Fog — starring Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly — but his two-decade career also includes award-winning commercials for brands such as GM, MasterCard and Chevrolet, among others.

RMW is owned by DreamWorks’ equal partner Reliance ADAG and offers a variety of services, including postproduction, 3D conversion and film restoration. RMW also owns a state-of-the-art studio facility located in Mumbai’s Film City and has other divisions, including a TV production entity and leading exhibition chain Big Cinemas.
“Perelman is expected to bring his unique aesthetic and personal style to projects undertaken by RMW. His vast experience will be an invaluable asset to any project he is associated with,” said RMW president of media and creative services Naresh Malik.
Said Perelman: “I’m excited to be associated with the team at RMW as its creative director. Great advertising generates from the community, and I want to learn and embrace the personality, tastes, style and culture of India. I’m passionate about all art forms, and I desire to truly make this endeavor a success.”

As per the arrangement, Perelman will not provide his services to any other production house for the Indian territory and will work exclusively for RMW’s clients for commercial production.
Perelman’s other credits include the music video for Grammy-winner Kelly Clarkson’s hit “Because of You,” which won best female video at the 2006 MTV VMAs. His feature credits include the 2006 drama/thriller The Life Before Her Eyes, starring Uma Thurman.
In April, RMW hired VFX veteran George Murphy — an Oscar winner for Forrest Gump — to spearhead creative strategies for visual effects services for the group’s global client base, based at its Burbank facilities.
