Tahoe South restaurant week is January 10-17

Hearty breakfasts, gourmet burgers, fine wines, steaks, seafood, and mountains of decadent desserts are on the menu Jan. 10-17, 2014 at Tahoe South as more than a dozen of the area’s restaurants roll out an extraordinary culinary experience for California Restaurant Month.

Tahoe South Restaurant Week connects foodies with 17 of the area’s most notable locally-owned eateries, each recognized for their classic favorites and distinctive dishes. Participating restaurants will feature specially-priced and pre-fixe menus highlighting the theme “Made with Altitude.”

“Named ‘America’s Best Lake’ in 2012 by USA Today readers, Tahoe South is known the world over for its cobalt blue waters, magnificent shoreline, breathtaking views and world class mountains to ski and snowboard. We’d like to think that our restaurants fit in there too,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “Tahoe South Restaurant Week is an incredible opportunity to showcase some of the region’s best wine and food along with our sustainable offerings.”

Some restaurants will complement their menus with remarkable lake views while others will let the sparkling night skies showcase a spectacular wintery Sierra Nevada backdrop. No special reservations are needed for this weeklong event.

Participating restaurants include: 11th Frame Diner, Apres Wine Co, Basecamp Pizza, The Beacon Bar & Grill at Camp Richardson, Boathouse on the Pier, Edgewood Tahoe, Getaway Café, Gunbarrel Tavern, Hard Rock Cafe, The Landing Resort & Spa, MacDuff’s, Red Hut Café (three South Shore Locations) the Riva Grill, Sorensen’s Resort and Toast!. Tahoe South Restaurant Week is part of California Restaurant Month, designated by Visit California. More than 30 destinations across California, from the desert and coast to wine country and High Sierra, will host restaurant weeks and other value-driven food programming this January.

“We’re thrilled to have Tahoe South be a part of California’s amazing culinary experience,” said Caroline Beteta, Visit California president & CEO. “California is the top U.S. destination for culinary travel – we have long been a leader in fresh produce and seafood, farm to fork dining and winemaking. Tahoe South Restaurant Week gives visitors a chance to experience it all with special offers they won’t see at any other time of the year.”
