Anchor Bay Films has picked up all rights to Fear Clinic, a horror movie that began life as a digital series on FEARnet.
The deal includes theatrical, VOD, digital and home entertainment. A late 2014 release is planned for the movie, which is still in production. The deal was made at Sundance.
Robert Hall, a special effects guru whose credits include Angel, Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, co-wrote and is directing the pic, which centers on a fear doctor (played by Robert Englund) who attempts to cure patients suffering from crippling phobias by placing them inside his exposure therapy invention, the Fear Chamber, where he induces and controls hallucinations.
Fiona Dourif (Curse of Chucky, The Master), Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, A Nightmare on Elm Street), Kevin Gage (Laid to Rest, Blow), Cleopatra Coleman (Step Up Revolution), Angelina Armani (ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2) and Corey Taylor of Slipknot are also in the cast.
Fear Clinic attracted more than 5 million viewers on FEARnet.com and the series earned two Streamy Awards for best sound design and best visual effects for Hall’s company, Almost Human.
Fear Chamber Productions, Dry County Entertainment and The Movie Machine are producing the movie.
