The waiting is over: Your 2014 Miss Golden Globe is Sosie Bacon, adorable daughter of celebrity cool-parent couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. Bacon, 21, was feted Thursday night at a party hosted by InStyle and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Mark Wahlberg, Colin Farrell and Orange Is the New Black‘s Taylor Schilling were among the stars who showed up to the Fig & Olive in West Hollywood to congratulate Bacon on the high-profile gig.

Also spotted nibbling on charcuterie, sipping wine and chatting with friends at the relaxed event: Jeremy Piven, Emile Hirsch, Masters of Sex‘s Lizzy Caplan (laughing on a couch with James Marsden), Inside Llewyn Davis‘ musical star Oscar Isaac and Scandal‘s Scott Foley. We cornered the guest of honor to ask her about the prestige appointment, which you can catch when NBC airs the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.

The Hollywood Reporter: So, how does one go about becoming Miss Golden Globe?
Sosie Bacon: Well, you have to be born with two parents that are actors. That’s step one.
OK. What’s the vetting process like after that?
They just ask if you want to do it, and then I met with the [Hollywood Foreign Press Association]. We had a nice meeting — they asked me some questions about myself, like a job interview, sorta. Pretty painless.

And what preparations are in store for the big night?
You get a lot of what my mom calls getting “bouf’d and do’d” — it means getting all your hair and makeup done. And you show up and I think we probably do a rehearsal, give lots of interviews. I think there’s going to be a lot of people there that people are way more interested in meeting than me.
Will [this year’s returning Golden Globes hosts] Tina Fey and Amy Poehler help put you at ease?
I cannot wait to see them. I can’t wait. It’s going to be awesome.
How sick are you of “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” references?
Actually, tonight I’ve only heard it a couple of times.

It was in the press release.
It was? (Laughs.) Oh. I guess I didn’t know. My friends still say things like that — “Oh, ha ha, six degrees of you …” I don’t get annoyed by things very easily.
Are you based in New York or Los Angeles or both?
I live here [in Los Angeles] a lot of the time and there [in New York] a little bit of the time. I have an apartment with two of my friends there.
Besides getting “bouf’d and do’d,” what advice did your parents give you for Golden Globes night?
They told me to just be myself, have fun, try not to get too stressed about anything.
