Harvey Weinstein will be interviewed during the UCLA Entertainment Symposium March 7 and 8, 2014, in a one-on-one dialogue with attorney Ken Ziffren.
Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, will discuss his career, the entertainment industry and the future of show business only days after the Academy Awards on March 2. Over the years at TWC, and before that at Miramax, movies made during the tenure of Weinstein and his brother, Bob, have received 321 Oscar nominations and won 78 Academy Awards.
A number of this year’s TWC releases are likely to be in the awards race, including Lee Daniel’s The Butler, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Philomena, August: Osage County and Fruitvale Station.
Ziffren is a prominent media and entertainment attorney. He also is an adjunct professor at UCLA Law School.
“I look forward to gathering with some of the greatest minds in the industry at this event – this is a constantly evolving business,” said Weinstein, “and we will always have things to learn from one another.”
Previous keynote speakers have included Clint Eastwood; Leslie Moonves of CBS; Barry Meyer of Warner Bros.; and Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Landmark Theatres and Magnolia Pictures.
Now in its 38th year, t two-day program held on the UCLA campus in Westwood includes panels with speakers from TV networks, studios, cable TV, lawyers and others.
