LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are ready for their close-ups. The tabloid-favored couple have landed their own reality vehicle at VH1.
The network announced Wednesday that it has commissioned six episodes of LeAnn & Eddie (working title) from Duck Dynasty creators Gurney Productions. The network is eyeing a premiere for later in the fall or winter of 2014.
“We are really excited to be working together on a unique show that will give you a glimpse into who we really are or better yet who we’re really not,” the couple said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to partner with VH1 and the Gurneys to put our spin on a project full of love, humor and music.”
Rimes, a former child star who’s had a presence in country music since age 13, has sold more than 40 million albums to date. Cibrian, whom she married in 2011, is best known for roles in Third Watch, CSI: Miami and the short-lived Playboy Club. It’s the first docuseries for both.
“LeAnn and Eddie are both talented entertainers who have really captured the public’s imagination in the last couple of years, but there is so much more to them than what you read in the tabloids,” said VH1 president Tom Calderone. “This is going to be a really fun show in which we hope to reveal what their lives are really like — from the normalcy of their home life, to what drives them artistically, to the chaos of their celebrity life.”
Scott and Deirdre Gurney will be executive producers on the show for Gurney Productions, with Rimes and Cibrian also serving as exec producers for Country Cuban Productions. Other EPs include John Ferriter for Octagon Entertainment, Scotty Abrams for Maniac Filmworks and Music and Jill Holmes for VH1.
VH1 never has been a stranger to celebrity-centric reality efforts. Its current unscripted lineup includes the similarly themed T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle, La La’s Full Court Life and Hollywood Exes.
