PLACER COUNTY –

One day after officers chased and caught suspects from a home invasion robbery as they fled down I-80, the suspects are now at the placer county jail, booked for robbery, burglary, assault and vehicle theft.

Investigators said the female suspect will face an additional drug charge for smuggling a controlled substance into the jail. She also had a no-bail warrant out of Sonoma County.

Early yesterday, the suspects barged their way into a home in this gated community in Loomis, duck taped and tied up a couple in their late 20s, as they ransacked the house. The trio from Willits stole a shotgun and two vehicles owned by the victims.

Investigators said one suspect admitted the link he had to one victim.

Officers are also looking into a motive for the break-in. Home invasions are rare in Placer County.

Although there was no evidence of drug cultivating on the property yesterday, cops haven’t ruled that out as a motive. That’s one of the things they’ll look for in the stolen vehicles, once a search warrant is obtained.

And investigators say although the trio initially got away with the robbery at the home, they made a stupid mistake.

Officers caught up with two of the suspects in Roseville, after spotting the stolen cars.
